阿拉巴马大学伯明翰分校博士后职位招聘–免疫组织化学、细胞培养、克隆、细胞毒性检测以及蛋白质和基因表达的分子生物学表征方面
Job Description
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Natalie R. Gassman in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham for individuals interested in understanding the interplay between DNA damage, DNA repair, and metabolism (https://sites.uab.edu/gassmanlab/). The lab’s diverse grant portfolio examines environmental agents’ influence on DNA damage response and repair and investigates the modulation of DNA damage response and repair in cancer. The lab uses novel methods to measure DNA damage in cells and tissues and explores how metabolism and metabolic process influence DNA repair. We seek a motivated individual to join our team and work on projects related to DNA repair in breast, ovarian, and prostate cancer. The lab uses various cell culture methods and animal models to understand how exposures drive DNA repair changes that may contribute to cancer initiation, progression, and treatment. The postdoctoral researcher would be exposed to various molecular biology approaches, genomics, metabolomics, biochemistry, and microscopy. While there are many ongoing research projects, candidates are encouraged to develop novel investigation lines and pursue career development funding opportunities.
The candidate must have expertise in immunohistochemistry, cell culture, cloning, cytotoxicity assays, and molecular biology characterization of protein and gene expression. Experience with microscopy, CRISPR, or CHiP is also desirable. Additionally, experience in LC-MS or other metabolomics and pathways analyses is of interest. Dr. Gassman has a multi-disciplinary background and is interested in candidates passionate about science and discovery.
The candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and a collaborative and collegial attitude. This position will provide candidates with skills in experimental design, collaborative research teams, and grant and manuscript writing.
Qualifications
Ph.D. degree in biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or related discipline.
Up to 1 year of postdoctoral experience.
Additional Information:
When applying for the position, please include a 1-pg cover letter with a brief statement of research interests, an updated CV and contact information for at least 3 references. The application should be sent to nrg2@uab.edu. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with research experience and background. They are based on the NIH Ruth Kirschenstein Postdoctoral Fellow Scale.
